[personal profile] delladea posting in [community profile] sewing
(Hello! I know nothing has been done with this comm yet, but I just finished this and figured [community profile] sewing would be the proper place for it. :) )

I was wanting a fun dress to wear after our wedding, but I couldn't find anything I liked in ready-to-wear. I had bought a big bag of patterns from Goodwill for $5 that yielded some very cute women's patterns in my size, one of which was a summer dress that was about what I was looking for. I found all the fabric I needed from JoAnn's for $15 (on sale!) that happened to match a zipper and thread I already had in my stash. :D

I used McCall's 4469 size 14 circa 1975. It took me about a week and a half of evenings working on it start to finish. I had to take in about two inches from the top of the bodice tapered to the bottom to get it to fit correctly because I have teeny boobs. The bottom part of the dress was perfect with no change in the pattern. Its still a bit loose, but it fits me better on top than any other dress I've made so far. There's no slippage or peeking out, so I can go braless. Construction was easy, just more time consuming because I tried so hard to get my gathers perfect.

A closer shot of the front:

I love the way this came out, definitely saving the pattern to use again!
